Information you provide
This website can be used entirely without entering personal data.
When sending me an email, you agree to that email being saved in my email archive, just like when emailing anyone else. Don't send data you don't want me to have.
Information I collect
Like most websites, the server automatically logs visits for the purposes of security and statistics.
Log files are protected by standard security practices (a password) and not shared or sold. They may be kept for up to 2 months.
Since no other data is collected, it is not possible to connect a log entry to a person.
Logs are created in the "Combined log format", which is the default for both nginx and Apache (the two most popular web servers). They contain, for example:
- The client's public IP address
- The requested URL, including parameters (everything you can see in the address bar)
- Some technical information sent by your browser, like the user agent and the referrer
Analytics
The log files are used to collect some usage statistics. This happens locally and without sending data to third parties. No tracking cookies or external services (like Google Analytics) are used.
The behaviour of individual users is not visible. The statistics only contain generalized information, such as:
- Total hits per hour/day/month
- Hits per page
- Usage share by country
I do not use these statistics to "improve my service" and what not, I just want to know how often my pages are visited.
Like the log files, statistics are not shared or sold.
